Yeah, Art! Brings Workshops To Oakland Schools

Yeah, Art! just wrapped our first semester of our three-year commitment at Roosevelt Middle School. Our Big Kids partnered with esteemed OUSD music educator and Oakland native Randy Porter to reimagine arts education. Together, we led Vocal Performance, Songwriting and Music Production workshops 2-4x/week for the budding, young artists at Roosevelt.

“It’s been fantastic having Yeah, Art! in my classroom. As young working artists, they can connect with students I find harder to reach. They’ve infused my music program with a lot of enthusiasm and joy.”

Randy Porter, Music Director, Roosevelt Middle School

“In the real world, when you want to apply what you’ve learned in school, you need to know how to use technology. Programs like Yeah, Art! give students a real world application to music.”

Karina Flonnoy, Yeah, Art! Big Kid and Owner of Studio X Recording

This programming is made possible by the Arts Incentive Grant 2025, a funding program that will help Yeah, Art! conduct these arts courses in OUSD for the next three years. As well as all the generous contributions from our community supporters. Thank you to everyone who has helped position Yeah, Art! to reach students in our community.
